Finding Your Passion

To all who take the time to read this,

Thank you. I hope that you are something like me, situated in a personal space you don’t fully understand and trying to make sense of a world you understand even less.

When I was young, I never really felt like I fit in. I know, that’s not much of a novel sentiment, but it’s something I reflect on often in my day to day now that I’m a 28 year old man. I still remember high school moments like they happened yesterday, which just shows me truly how fast this precious time we have on this earth moves. Especially as an entrepreneur.

My life has very much become a never ending task list. Things that I thought happened a few days ago happened a week ago, and I’m reminded of some other meeting or networking event that I was actually doing during that time. It’s dizzying at times. It’s a swirl and I never quite know how well I am going to land on my feet.

But the reality of it all is that I’m truly excited by this life. Learning on the fly. Failing and bouncing back. Quitting so rarely crosses my mind because I’m genuinely passionate about being an entrepreneur and creating different businesses and jobs.

When I was younger, I always imagined myself becoming a man of substance and high stature. All of my heroes were revered for not only the amazing feats that they accomplished, but how they stuck to what made them so uniquely…them. My interests and passions have not changed much from when I was young, but my commitment to them certainly has. Nowadays my passion creates my focus, and I don’t let anyone or anything compromise my focus. Part of the reason why I am so restless now is because I so often find myself energized by one of my interests. As a child, I was finding tons of new books and people and facts that would bring me to new intellectual endeavors, only to put them to the side opting into group choice.

This may not be the right way to say this but your passions and interests stay with you much longer than your childhood friends. It’s the truth, or at least it’s my truth that I’ve observed in my life. In fact, your passions and interests are going to help you find your tribe. These are the ones who you’ll really be with after life moves you all over the place and takes you (hopefully) into an uncomfortable and new space.

I’ve been blessed to learn about and wholeheartedly pursue more than one of my passions, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t wish I had the courage to start younger than I did. Especially because as I grow older, I realize some people never find what they’re passionate about, but stick with what is easy and available to them.

I want you to know that it’s okay to be interested in your life path more than others. To not be afraid to choose yourself and your pursuits over what seems to be cool at that moment in time.

It doesn’t matter what age you are when you’re reading this, just know that I sincerely would like for you to take some time while school is out and the world seems to be slowing down. Take the time find your passion.

Find Your Passion.
